Blackhawks Welcome Carlos Petersen |

We are proud to announce that Carlos Petersen has joined our staff. He will be Director of Boys and Girls and Age Group Coordinator of U12-U18, and will oversee the College Advisory Program. 
He comes to us from University of Alabama-Huntsville where he was the Head Men's Soccer Coach for 19 years. He matriculated over 28 student athletes to the professional ranks and developed over 36 college, high school and top club coaches - our own Adam Burke is included in this list. During his tenure at UAH Petersen lead the Men's Program to its only appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament in school history. Other accolades include 5 Gulf South Conference tournament appearances with being crowned Champions in 3 of them and being voted Gulf South Conference Coach of the year 3 times.
He also brings with him club experience. He was the Madison Soccer Clubs DOC for 7 years for both boys and girls. While at the helm he helped produced 9 State Championships. While coaching the Rampage U-14 girls team he lead them to a State Championship and onto a strong performance at the Region III Championships. He has also worked as an Alabama ODP Staff coach while in Alabama.

FUNdamental Skills Academy
The Skills Academy is designed for all players; recreational and competitive (Blackhawk and aspiring Blackhawks) players can enjoy a progressive program that includes skill sets, activities and games.
Junior Academy
The Junior Academy is a very structured program for players that want to play competitively. The program specifically focuses on player's technical improvement and the tactical implications of each skill. The Academy is utilized to identify players.
Senior Academy
Our High School aged Academy utilizes a game based format to develop the player's understanding of soccer. Within the play, technical activities will be delivered to elevate the player's skills level. The Academy is utilized to identify players.
Far West Regional League
94 Blackhawk Boys got started off on the right foot as they won 2 -0 and tied 2 - 2 in their opening weekend at the Far West Regional League in San Jose, CA. Dean Stevens lead the 94 Blackhawks with 3 goals in their opening campaign.

Olympic Development Program
The Scottsdale Blackhawks would like to Congratulate all the Blackhawks that participated in the ODP Region IV Summer Camps. The Boys camp was held in Oregon and the Girls were in Idaho. The Blackhawks had representation from the 97 Black Girls, 98 Black Boys, 97 Black Boys, 96 Black Boys and 95 Black Boys.
A special Congratulations is in order for Michael Peay U-14 (97 Black), Louis Lopez U-15 (96 Black) and Nick Harguindeguy U-15 (96 Black) for being selected in their respected age groups to the 2010 Region IV Teams. This is a great honor and achievement for these young men. They competed against over 200 players in their age groups from across Region IV, 13 other State Associations. We wish them luck later in the month in California as they are in pursuit of a spot in the US National Pool.

The Blackhawk family wants to congratulate Adam Burke - 96 Boys, Laila Modi - 99 Girls, Vic Davidson - 99 Boys, Chris Brown - 97 Girls and Jeff Hulseweh - 98 Girls on putting the Scottsdale Blackhawks in elite company in the 2010 AZ State Cup with 4 teams in the top 4 and 1 State Championship.

We do want to acknowledge the 96 Boys for going Back-to-Back with this years State Championship (2009 and 2010). We also want to wish them the best of luck in the U-14 Boys group at the US Youth Soccer FarWest Region IV Championship June 21st - 27th in Albuquerque, NM. State Champions from every state in Region IV attend as they compete for a spot to go to Nationals in July.

The Scottsdale Soccer Foundation supports the development of student athletes in our community. Attention is on the whole athlete, with emphasis on character, teamwork, commitment and self confidence. The Foundation was established last year to support programs within the Club that include, but are not limited to, financial aid, equipment and capital improvement projects. Please take a moment to consider a donation by downloading the form and mailing into the Club offices. Contributions made to the foundation and monies raised through fundraising initiatives are directed toward player scholarships, field rental, equipment and capital improvements. Scottsdale Soccer is a 501(c)3 organization, and all contributions are tax deductible.
